Addressing dog and cat behavior issues in the Central New York area.

A bit about us…

Amy Wallis, Ph.D.
became interested in animal behavior through various volunteer activities at local shelters and rescue leagues. Her family always had pets, and her interest in behavior, both animal and human, led her to earn a doctorate in Counseling Psychology from
Virginia Commonwealth University. She completed specialized training in animal behavior consulting with Companion Animal Behavior, located in the Washington, D.C. area. After moving to central New York, she established her animal behavior consulting business, Wallis Consulting, LLC, with the goals of helping pets and their families resolve behavior concerns, minimize the need for animals to be euthanized or relinquished to shelters due to poor behavior, and educate the public on pet behavior.

Amy lives in
Baldwinsville, New York with her husband, and they share their home with three dogs and one cat, all rescued pets, with whom the have worked extensively to address various behavioral issues. Amy is certified by the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (www.iaabc.org), where she is an active member, attending conferences and workshops related to animal behavior, providing mentoring for aspiring animal care professionals, and guiding member tutorials.  She also serves as a board member for Wanderers' Rest Humane Association (www.wanderers-rest.com) and is a past board member of Sunshine Friends, a volunteer organization providing animal assisted activities and therapy (www.sunshinefriends.org).

While Amy spends her evenings and weekend working with animals and animal organizations, she also serves as an organizational psychologist leading the talent management function for a local company. Amy can be reached via email at Amy@MyPetHasIssues.com or by calling (315)303-4038.

Danielle Basciano, CPDT has had an avid interest in dog and cat behavior for years and has been primarily focused on the significant benefits of the animal-human bond.  To facilitate this interest she has spent the last 10 years volunteering in animal assisted activities and therapy programs through Sunshine Friends, Inc. where she currently serves as board president and as an evaluator for potential therapy pets.

Danielle has been a dog trainer for over seven years and is the only certified pet dog trainer (CPDT) in the central New York area. Along with obedience classes Danielle teaches a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Class as an AKC Certified CGC Evaluator. (http://www.akc.org/events/cgc/) She is an IAABC associate and a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers.

Danielle serves as a volunteer with many animal organizations and has enjoyed hands on experience with shelter animals including the evaluation of incoming dogs. She is particularly skilled at helping families by providing support during the transition of bringing a rescue dog into a new home. She has recently started volunteering at Wanderers Rest Humane Association working one-on-one with dogs that need training. She also serves as Vice President of the board for Spay and Neuter Syracuse, a low cost spay and neuter clinic dedicated to ending the overpopulation problem in Central New York.

Danielle moved to the CNY area from Toronto, Canada almost 20 years ago and resides here with five rescued animals, one dog and four cats. Danielle can be reached through email at Danielle@MyPetHasIssues.com or by calling (315)303-4038.
